From Fjord to Summit – A Full-Day Pulpit Rock Experience with Rebecca and John
Some days are about reaching the top. Others are about seeing the mountain from every angle. With Rebecca and John from Florida, this became a full-circle experience — sea to summit, all in one day.
We started early in Stavanger, heading straight out on a RIB boat into the Lysefjord. The speed, the fresh air, and the raw cliffs rising straight from the water set the tone immediately. Coming in beneath Pulpit Rock gives a completely different perspective — massive, exposed, and far more dramatic than most expect.
Standing below the plateau, looking up at where we were heading next, created a natural anticipation. This wasn’t just a hike — it was a journey through the landscape.
After the fjord experience, we met John again — this time on land — and started the hike from the “backside” approach. A quieter, less traveled way in, giving us space to move at our own pace and really connect with the terrain.
The trail built gradually, and the story of the day stayed with us: from sea level to the top. When we finally stepped out onto Pulpit Rock, it all came together. They had already seen it from below — now they stood on it.
The key moment was that realization. Looking down into the fjord they had just crossed, understanding the scale from both perspectives. Few people get that in a single day.
What made this experience special was how it was put together. As guides, we coordinated the logistics, timing, and transitions between sea and mountain — making it feel seamless, not rushed.
